How to setup email accounts for:

Netscape Communicator 4.x: 

  1. Click on the Start button.
  2. Move the cursor to Programs.
  3. Move the cursor to Netscape Communicator.
  4. Move the cursor to Utilities.
  5. Click on User Profile Manager.
  6. Click on New.
  7. Click on Next.
  8. Type in your name and email addresss (username@qis.net). The email address must be typed in all lower case.
  9. Click on Next.
  10. Type a name for the profile.
  11. Click on Next.
  12. Type mail.qis.net for the Outgoing Mail Server.
  13. Click on Next.
  14. Type your user name (username@qis.net) for the Account Name. Your user name is just the first part of your email address. Do not type @qis.net
  15. Type mail.qis.net for the Incoming Mail Server.
  16. Make sure POP3 has a dot next to it.
  17. Click on Next.
  18. Type news.qis.net for the News Server.
  19. Click on Finish.
  20. Close any Netscape windows that open.
  21. Start Netscape and you will be given a choice of profiles. Choose the one you just added and click on Start Communicator.
  22. Click on Edit.
  23. Click on Preferences.
  24. Click the plus sign (+) next to Mail & Newsgroups from the Category menu on the left.
  25. Highlight Identity.
  26. Type in your name and email addresss (username@qis.net) on the right hand side. The email address must be typed in all lower case.
  27. Highlight Mail Servers to your left.
  28. Incoming Mail Servers should have mail.qis.net listed.
  29. If the information is not correct click on Edit to change settings.
  30. Outgoing mail (SMTP) server should have mail.qis.net listed.
  31. Your user name (username@qis.net) should be listed in the Outgoing mail server user name field. Your user name is just the first part of your e-mail address. Do not type @qis.net
  32. Highlight Newsgroup Servers to your left.
  33. Newsgroup Servers should have news.qis.net listed. If this is not correct highlight and delete the wrong entree then click add to enter the correct information.
  34. Click OK.
