Contributed by Andrea Palmer (Lexington KY MM, Swarthmore MM).

At Meeting for Business August 10, 1997 Lexington Friends Meeting (KY) approved the following minutes:

Minute 97-38. Lexington Friends Meeting endorses the Declaration of Life. The Declaration of Life is a statement that individuals may sign in which they ask that in the case that they are murdered, the person(s) convicted of this murder not be given the death penalty. Lexington Friends Meeting urges the monthly meetings in Ohio Valley Yearly Meeting to endorse the Declaration of Life.

Minute 97-39. We will make copies of the Declaration available for Lexington Friends to sign and keep copies of these signed statements. We will also send the Declaration and Minute 97-38 to other monthly meetings in our yearly meeting for their consideration.
