This chest of drawers is my first "big" piece of furniture. A co-worker wanted me to build 7 of them for his home. Not being sure if I could handle sure a task, I convinced him to have me make a single one and see if he liked it and I could build it properly. Unfortunately for me, the guy quit work and was unable to get the funds for even this single unit. Fortunately for me I only built this one and needed one for myself anyway ! It now sits in my bedroom and contains all my racing t-shirts :-).

The chest is made out of ash. Quit the "hard" hardwood. It was my first attempt at making a dovetail drawer. I used a dovetail jig I built from, you guessed it - Woodsmith magazine. Not too bad except the small B&D router I had at the time really wasn't meant for that type of work. It died shortly after and was replaced with a PC690. I got carried away and even dovetailed the corners on the bottom of the chest ! The finish I used was a Bartley gel stain and Bartley gel varnish.
