My Powerbook is finally back and functional. My DVD drive failed and I decided to replace it with a combo DVD/CD-RW drive. So when I had a spare moment I summoned up the courage and got a shipping box from PowerbookResq. After a little problem with the drive being back-ordered I was back in business and very happy.

The cool part of my ordeal was being able to continue with my work uninterrupted. I had already sent a donation to Mike Bombich who created Carbon Copy Cloner and had used the application to migrate from the original hard drive on the 'book to a bigger one. This time I cloned over the OS and my own user folder to an old drive in a Firewire enclosure. I was able to borrow an unused Powerbook G4 and boot from the Firewire. Aside from the hassle of keeping track of the dangling drive the whole thing worked like a charm.
