HERE IS SOME OF WHAT THIS COUNTRY THROWS AWAY EACH YEAR!

    In the year 2000 the alcohol related death rates have went up by 2% from 1999's statistics.  Now the percentage of alcohol related deaths is 40% (previously 38%).

    Researchers say that alcohol abuse costs society approximately $250 Billion dollars per year in healthcare, public safety and social welfare expenditures.

   The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Connecticut, the California Endowment, the University of Washington, and the University of Kentucky Lexington, analyzed the effectiveness of alcohol prevention and treatment programs.

   Babor added that alcohol abuse will remain a major health problem until public understanding improves. "The health of the population can best be served not by discovery of a miracle cure, but rather by improvement and more efficient allocation of existing services. We need to focus on early identification, case-management, and organized systems of care that serve the needs of the community".

Our thoughts About This Waste That Everybody Pays!!!!!!

   Just as they are raising the taxes on cigarettes almost every month, to offset the health care cost caused by smoking. We think that each state should raise the taxes on alcohol to be put in a special fund to help cover these health care costs, that easily could be avoided if people were to "Think Before They Drink" and not cause unnecessary car crashes. This way the people that cause the problem will also help pay for the solution. Plus this could also help keep the alcohol out of the hands of our teens. If you are tired of paying for other people's mistakes, you can help us and yourselves, plus your community by writing to your congressman/congresswomen to get them to write and pass these special taxes on Alcohol. That way you could have more money in your own pockets to do what you have only been dreaming about doing.
